New technologies such as this one out of Palo Alto are finding ways to “reverse the combustion” by turning carbon dioxide (a major player in the green house gas arena) into a carbon neutral fuel. Out of adversity comes ingenuity, especially in California, where AB32, a bipartisan approved landmark clean energy bill that many hoped would serve as a catalyst for a national effort to reduce dependence on foreign oil and help mitigate the threat of climate change. AB32 is now under attack with an initiative financed mainly by oil and gas companies from Texas. A prominent republican, George Shultz — a cabinet member in both the Nixon and Reagan administrations — is helping the fight to save the law with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Shultz credits AB 32 for an unprecedented “outburst” of technological creativity and investment as shown in this video.
